30 Stars You Forgot Appeared On The X-Files

8. Giovanni Ribisi

Another case of "the other guest star in the episode gets brought up more often": Jack Black is often remembered for appearing on The X-Files in season three's D.P.O., but it's fellow star Giovanni Ribisi who steals the show as the titular Darren Peter Oswald, a boy in love with his teacher who has the ability to channel lightening through his body and utilize its power. His obsession with his crush (unrequited, as she's married) becomes more and more consuming, and his descent into rage fueled madness captivating and creepy. Ribisi had a long history of television work prior to The X-Files, but it was after appearing on the show that his career really took off, with a lot of critical acclaim for his work in The Boiler Room and Saving Private Ryan. He would go on to work on films such as Gone in Sixty Seconds, Avatar, and Ted, not to mention a recurring role on the underrated My Name Is Earl. D.P.O. is actually one of those episodes that you really wished had a sequel, since Oswald clearly still has his powers by the end of it.
