Based on the real-life Gorgeous Ladies of Wrestling Promotion from the 1980s, Netflix's GLOW turned out to be one of 2018's best surprises.

The show could've easily been little other than graps and gimmicks but, in the hands of the team behind Orange is the New Black, it became so much more: a genuinely funny half-hour comedy, an exciting, emotional, and shocking drama that touched upon serious issues, and a rare Netflix show that didn't suffer from pacing issues. It also had some damn good wrestling too.

Things are nicely set up for more of the same in Season 2, with the promotion's storyline only just getting going really, and it'll be great to see Alison Brie, Betty Gilpin, and Marc Maron back in the squared circle this summer.
