30 TV Shows That Will Kick-Ass In 2018
6. Sharp Objects
Four years after Gone Girl exploded from the page and onto the big screen, we're finally getting another Gillian Flynn adaptation.
It's a surprise that it's taken so long - although the gap was hindered by Flynn and David Fincher's failed Utopia series - but the early signs are that it'll be worth the wait, with Sharp Objects HBO's most exciting new series this year.
Directed by Big Little Lies' Jean-Marc Vallée, created/written/run by Buffy's Martin Noxon, and starring Amy Adams, this has a lot of potential, with Flynn herself contributing to the writing too.
The story centres on Camille (Adams), a reporter who leaves psych hospital after treatment for years of self-harm, and returns to her small hometown to investigate the murder of two young girls. Like with Gone Girl, it promises to be dark, thrilling, and full of shocking reveals and plot twists.
