Legends could otherwise be known as what Homeland's production supremo Howard Gordon did next, which will be enough for most fans to get excited, but the premise is equally as alluring. The show follows deep-cover operative Martin Odum (Sean Bean), who boasts the chameleon-like ability to transform himself into a different person for every mission, but who faces questions when it is suggested he is not who he thinks he is. So that's Quantum Leap meets Jason Bourne and the Jackal then. The Selling Point: The high-concept, the leading man power of Sean Bean and the production know-how of Gordon. The Concerns: Gordon has failed relatively recently with a high-concept show in Awake, so he has previous.
15. NCIS: New Orleans (2014-15)
The latest addition to the already bursting crime investigation market will be the third arm of the NCIS family tree, which itself started with JAG. Fans have already seen the pilot, which followed the franchise's trend for backdoor pilots and formed part of NCIS season 11. This time, of course, the action moves to New Orleans with new show lead Scott Bakula, and a team including Fast & Furious Tokyo Drift's Lucas Black. The Selling Point: Those little four letters guarantee an excited, ready made audience. And it's got Scott Bakula in it. The Concerns: It could well be another paint-by-numbers procedural, but let's be honest, it won't stop the fans pouring in to watch it.
