16. Laurel Still Isn’t Very Good

Regardless of whether she’s in the infancy of her hero career or not, the character of Laurel Lance has been Arrow’s biggest weakness to date.

Whether she’s a whiny ex-girlfriend, a legal expert, deemed an alcoholic for having one glass of wine, or stepping into the role of Black Canary, Laurel has been so poorly written and portrayed, which is a huge disappointment given how vital the character is to Oliver in the comic book world.

What we get to see here is that Laurel is still not very good at this whole hero malarkey yet, summed up nicely by her dad having to come to the rescue and get himself shot in order to save her during an attack from ‘the ghosts’.

If Laurel’s performance was being marked, it’d simply be labelled ‘must do better’.
