32 WTF Moments From Marvel's Jessica Jones

11. Kilgrave€™s Story

Wowzers. Talk about a troubled backstory. Whilst part of what Kilgrave would have us believe about his backstory is actually all a lie, he most definitely got treated and experimented on by his scientist parents. Whether they were doing it in order to help him or not is the big question here (seemingly they were looking to €˜fix€™ their son), but he certainly got put through the wringer. Here we see him have to deal with spinal fluid extraction and some form of neurology-based shock treatment as old footage is played back courtesy of a USB drive. Seeing a young boy shocked and agonisingly screaming in pain was a major WTF moment, and it was certainly fitting punishment as Jones played this back on a loop for her one-time torturer whilst threatening him with the prospect of electrified water.

10. Gameboy Problems

When we find out the reason behind Jessica Jones€™ death, it basically comes down to JJ having a fit over a Gameboy. Nice one, Jess. Thanks to a convenient flashback, we see the Joneses on a road trip. As Jessica€™s brother pesters her to let him have a go on €œhis€ Gameboy, she ends up losing her cool and breaking the Gameboy, causing a distraction to her father as he€™s driving. And that was the end of that for Jessica€™s family. It was a troubling moment and one that helped to partly explain why Jessica is like how she is in the present day, hesitant to let anybody in and always with her walls up.
