Originally introduced as a one off character, the Tenth Doctor met River Song in Series 4 as a person who knew him intimately, yet he had no idea who she was, nor why she had a version of his sonic screwdriver. As fans discovered in later series, the Doctor and River's timelines were running nearly backward from each other, so that her past was his future, and vice versa. Obviously not one to let something as simple as "time" deter him, he eventually married River Song, though the legality of it is in question, seeing as the wedding occurred in a universe that shouldn't have existed, due to a fixed point being altered. Discuss!
