Finally, we come to the villain this author believes is most likely to make a comeback during the current run.

One of the founders of the Time Lords of Gallifrey and described by the Doctor as their 'greatest hero', Omega has featured twice in classic Doctor Who and is well overdue a return. Initially believed to have been destroyed long ago, Omega was transported to an anti-matter universe, in which he resided and controlled, before attempting to trap the first three incarnations of the Doctor there in ‘The Three Doctors’. He later made a return in the Peter Davison serial ‘Arc of Infinity’ in which he mirrored the Doctor’s image to give himself a new body.

He hasn’t been seen since, but certain clues in the latest season have links to the founding Time Lord – the Kasavin were creatures from another universe or dimension, the mystery of the Timeless Child hints at a big reveal, and we’ve seen Time Lords from the Doctor’s past this series.

Could Omega be behind it all?
