Creator: Jason Katims Network: NBC Katims was coming off Friday Night Lights, and naturally I was excited about his new show. And if Katims pedigree doesnt get you excited, the stellar ensemble cast should; Peter Krause, Monica Potter, Dax Shepard, Craig T. Nelson, Mae Whitman, Lauren Graham, and Erika Christensen, among others. This NBC drama is really a detailed look into the Braverman family. Right away, we find that Adam and Kristinas (Krause & Potter) only son has Aspergers which launches us into our journey with this family. Krause, Graham, Shepard, and Christensen are four siblings, fathered by Nelson and Bonnie Bedelia; we watch this tight-knit family struggle with a myriad of true-life issues. I always saw this show as Six Feet Under-lite, the network family drama. There is a lot less subtext, but a lot more on the surface feelings, shouting matches, and family fun. Its hard to take real life issues that have been played out over and over and allow the audience to experience it in new ways. There is something fresh about Parenthood. Catch it before its gone!
