4. Frisky Dingo
Bravos Adult Swim block first brought Frisky Dingo to screens in 2006. Running for 25 (10minute) episodes over 2 seasons this is one of the most bizarre shows youll ever see. Killface, a newly arrived sociopathic super villain, is hellbent on destroying the earth. To do this he (with the help of his son, a few heartless advertising types and a half-human half-lobster hybrid) is building the greatest machine ever devised (the Annihilatrix) with the intention of pushing the earth into the sun. Fortunately there is one man standing in his way, gloriously parodying Bruce Wayne and Batman, in the form of Xander Cruise and his alter ego Awesome X. So now youre wondering what makes this different than anything else. Well, this is not a show trying to tell you a story, its trying to throw curveballs at you at every possible moment. The fame hungry Xander Cruise is more caught up with the union disputes of his loyal robot soldiers (the Xtacles) and changing his billion dollar manufacturing company to make his own action figures than saving the world (for most of the 1st season hes trying to convince Killface to be his action figure arch nemesis), with Killface being caught up with financial woes (its expensive to build a world ending machine, AND letting everyone in the world know youre doing it!), spelling mistakes and an insatiable appetite for killing people. Now out on DVD this is definitely worth trying out if you like your viewing to be random, unpredictable and downright silly. Its not going to change your opinions on the world but youll have a good laugh and, when you see how the first season ends, give you some great ideas on how to stop global warming!
