5 Reasons Game Of Thrones Is Better Than Lord Of The Rings

1. Danger Not 1000s Of Miles Away

theon Unlike Sauron's all-seeing eye, which doesn't really do anything even when it does see something and happens to be thousands of miles away, in Game of Thrones danger could be right behind you. Be it the maid cleaning your sheets, your loyal bannerman or your childhood friend and confidant. Thrones is a multi-character-jumping story, from the Wall and beyond further North, to the South and beyond Westeros to the Free Cities where Dany struts around with her dragons. One of the main common denominators between all these story-lines and places is that fear is just around the corner; Winter is Coming should be Winter Keeps Coming.. At You. Whether it's Theon Greyjoy turning into a traitorous prick and murdering loveable inhabitants of his childhood home, the zombiefied "Others" creeping out The Night's Watch or the Kingsgaurd killing new born babies - stop for a second and think about the dismantled concept of the "knight in shining armour" after that particular piece of villainy - Thrones keeps you on the edge of your seat at all times. While no one is safe at any given moment in Thrones, some geezers are helping Hobbits carry a ring across Middle Earth. While the story keeps focused on the Fellowship and doesn't jump nearly as much Thrones does, there is hardly ever any real danger for our heroes. Even Gandalf who presumably bites the dust in Fellowship, comes back in Two Towers stronger and whiter than ever. Did Ned Stark come back? Did he?!
