5 Reasons Pushing Daisies Should Be Revived On Netflix
2. The Romance Between Ned And Chuck
To quote Jerry Maguire: We live in a cynical, cynical world. We live in a time and age where "gritty" is the new popular thing. Unfortunately like many things, the whole gritty phase has been run into the ground by total overuse. On the other end of the spectrum, Pushing Daisies is a show that felt so refreshing during its run, because the heart of the show was all about the heartwarming romance between Ned (Lee Pace) and Chuck (Anna Friel). Despite all of the wonderfully whimsical things going on in the show, at the very core of it was a very sad, but ultimately beautiful Romeo and Juliet-esque tragic romance. It was absolutely heartbreaking to know that both Ned and Chuck could never physically touch each other for if they did, he would kill her for good. Being rejected by someone you love dearly is bad enough, but being loved back by that person and not being able to ever feel the intimacy with physical touching of that person is almost too heartbreaking to bear. That's what made the show so great most of all, was that despite everything going on, watching these two young lovers reconnect and struggle through their predicament meant so much to audiences alike. They were the ultimate underdog couple to root for. The connection between Ned and Chuck is one that would melt even the most cynical viewer's heart.
