6 Beloved TV Characters Who Are Clearly Going To Prison (If They Are Ever Caught)
5. Defendant: Clara Oswin Oswald
Charge: Child Endangerment
Clara Oswald is charged with several charges of child endangerment. In her role as au pair she abandoned the two children in her care, Angelica Elizabeth "Angie" Maitland and Arthur George "Artie" Maitland to run off with a man connected to several questionable incidents in the London area. Upon her return Clara then kidnapped Angie and Artie Maitland. Details of this incident are unclear, though the children were believed to have almost died in an abandoned amusement park. Since leaving this employment, Clara has taken up a post as teacher at Coal Hill School, where she has again abandoned her post to run off with this mysterious man, leaving the children in her class without proper supervision. It must be noted that this school has had a dubious past. Two teachers abandoned their posts in the same school in 1963, disappearing without a trace... Clara's mothering side adds an interesting dynamic to her character but her actions have to be questioned on a number of occasions. She obviously cared about Angie and Artie (though after watching them in 'Nightmare In Silver' I have to ask why), but she showed a clear lack of judgement in taking them on board the Tardis to visit another world. I love that Clara is now a teacher at Coal Hill School. It served as a wonderful throwback to the pilot episode in the 50th anniversary episode 'Day Of The Doctor'. But Clara has shown that she will regularly drop her life at the drop of a hat when the Doctor comes calling. Now I know it's a time travel show and that theoretically she could return just a minute after she left...but is her head really in the game? Not to mention all the marking and paperwork real teachers have to put up with. Just when does she have the time to fit it all in?
