6 Podcasts Being Adapted To TV (And 5 More That Should Be)

3. Should Be: The Bright Sessions

Limetown Show

Despite reportedly being in development for TV, the lack of any optioning by any specific network has nudged this particular podcast into the "should be" category. Even now, a series with The Bright Sessions's premise would be welcome, with all the superheroic deconstructions going on in modern media.

The sci-fi fiction podcast features recorded therapy sessions involving strange, super-powered individuals called "atypicals", with each season focusing on a few atypicals at the time having sessions for their largely mundane fears and issues with the eponymous Dr. Bright, complicated by their unusual powers. The way the series is able to focus on multiple atypicals acts as an effective format for telling multiple contained stories with the therapy sessions tying them together. Often likened to X-Men, The Bright Sessions could succeed in what the recent New Mutants film largely failed at, according to critical reception.

Despite no definite news on where the TV show might be showing, the series has found success in other media, such as the positively received queer sci-fi title "The Infinite Noise: A Bright Sessions Novel", released in 2019. One hopes it won't be long before this fantastic sci-fi series gets even more attention than it already has.
