7 Image Comics Series Crying Out For A TV Show
1. Invincible
Invincible is Robert Kirkman's (the creator of The Walking Dead) other big comic series, this time following a superhero, the titular Invincible, whose world gets quickly turned upside down when he finds out his father, also a superhero, is really on a mission to conquer the Earth on behalf of his dictatorial master race.
That high concept sounds like a perfect film synopsis, but the long-running comic series has seen the character progress in a way that you don't often see comics superheroes do. He's grown older, made sacrifices, built a family and taken time out. Invincible did what Marvel and DC often promised to do and made it stick: it changed the status quo, often for good.
In many ways, this would mean that Invincible could lend itself to a long-running TV show way more than a film series, with the only potential problem holding it back being a costly budget.
The comic took superhero spectacle to new heights, with superhero battles often levelling entire cities. We've certainly seen that on the big screen (most famously in Man of Steel), but it could be difficult to manage on the small screen.
But if they could find a way to make it work, Kirkman could have another long-running TV series on his hands with Invincible.
