Mark was Rachel's old work colleague who Ross hated as he was positive he had a thing for Rachel while the pair were working together €“ despite Rachel adamant their relationship was purely professional. Nevertheless, Ross and Rachel broke up after another argument over Mark's influence on their own relationship, which was largely just Ross' jealously of him, but also the fact Rachel had no time for Ross in her new job.
