8 Alternate TV Endings Much Better Than What We Got

Lost's ending is one of the most misunderstood in recent memory, a metaphysical curveball that left some fans feeling cheated.

The original ending showrunners Damon Lindelof and Carlton Cuse had to scrap for budgetary reasons was pretty much the same, except with added volcano fire.

The final battle between Jack and John Locke would have played out exactly the same, except with a volcano blowing its top in the background, raining fire down on the combatants and spewing lava across the battlefield.

Cuse told Entertainment Weekly...

“The volcano had been dormant for the duration of the series but based on moving into this endgame, the island had become unstable and the volcano was going to erupt.
"We were going to have lots of seismic activity, and ultimately, there was going to be this big fight between the forces of good and the forces of evil, which ended up in the series manifesting as Jack and The Man in Black, in the midst of magma. Magma spewing everywhere!”

ABC deemed a volcanic eruption too expensive, so the final battle between Jack and John ended up taking place on a rain-battered cliffside.

The fiery finale Lost originally had planned sounds like an epic spectacle. The same tense battle of good versus evil, but with more fire, brimstone and awesome special effects. How could this ending possibly be inferior?
