8 Best TV Series From 2020 That Totally Slipped Under The Radar

7. A Teacher

I Am Not Okay With This
20th Century Studios

Watching a hardcore drama about the inappropriate relationship between a teacher and her student is not for everybody, accepted. However, when Kata Mara is on the screen you can't help feel mesmerised by her committed performance and psychological justification for her actions.

Nick Robinson too holds this story up well with a very adult performance and has his moments to shine as the young man that engages with his teacher but it is Mara that runs the show.

As we get deeper and deeper into this messed up story, you never feel as though Mara's character has taken a jump that is too far from the reality of the real situations that inspired the story. Even when you know, along with her, that her actions are not only wrong but illegal, there is a pull that keeps you watching her and why she is doing what she is doing.

Her mistake has an obvious price for her, but a bigger one on her student, who's whole life becomes defined by what happened to him in high-school. A story that is adapted from its namesake book, A Teacher is a tragic, draining drama that bares itself to the audience and waits for judgement.

A Teacher is on the BBC iPlayer for UK users.
