8 Mysteries From DS9 And Voyager That Star Trek: Picard Season 2 Should Answer

6. Is Cardassia Okay?

Another one of the geopolitical mysteries left over from Star Trek: Deep Space Nine... the last time we saw Cardassia in "What You Leave Behind", the planet was in bad shape. After joining and then betraying the Dominion, the Cardassians' planet was ravaged by the Jem'Hadar, much of its populace dead and its capital city burning. Plain and simple Garak left DS9 to aid in the reconstruction of his homeworld and Garak actor Andrew Robinson even penned a novel "A Stitch in Time" detailing the character's life during that time.

But the Cardassians were always one of Trek's most interesting, multi-faceted adversaries. In an interview with Variety, Patrick Stewart stated that the Cardassians do not appear in the first season of Star Trek: Picard, but they do appear in Star Trek: Discovery season three and could appear in Picard's second season.

Are the Cadassians a force to be reckoned with again? Or are they still at home rebuilding their world? Did they join the Federation while Bajor stayed out?
