7. Bruce Forsyth - £500,000 A Year - Strictly Come Dancing
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7EElxhewqoU The fact that even Strictly fans are bemoaning old Brucie's act is not a good sign for the 85-year-old legend. He shouldn't worry too much though: firmly entrenched into the BBC with a half a million pound contract, Forsyth is laughing. You can guess what his accountant must be saying to him, huh? "Nice to see you, to see you nice." To be honest, I think Bruce is a great act. I'm not going to begrudge him a huge payday after working in the business since 1933. His old school entertainment brand also appeals to my humour. I like him. That doesn't change the fact that many TV fans think he is just awful, though. The criticism of Forsyth as a presenter has become so vocal that co-presenter Tess Daly has had to leap to his cause, stating: "The man is a legend. He is the consummate pro. He does a live show every Saturday night that most people 40 years younger couldn't do." Whether he is a good or bad presenter isn't really the issue, though. Whether he deserves a big payday after 7 decades in the business isn't the issue, either. The problem is that in a time of austerity - where we are all stumping up £145.50 for a viewing license - do we really get value out of paying Bruce Forsyth half a million pounds for a part time show that many of us don't even watch? Just consider some of the things that the BBC could have invested half a million pounds in instead.
