8 Star Trek Scenes That Actors Hated Shooting
1. Captain Kirk's Death Scene
One scene that most fans will agree was done poorly is Captain Kirk's death scene in Star Trek: Generations.
James T. Kirk is one of the most renowned Starfleet officers in history, both in lore, and the eyes of fans. Unfortunately though, his death in the seventh Star Trek film was hardly the send-off that the character deserved. In Generations, Kirk, lost in a timeless dimension of pure happiness, known as the Nexus, is pulled back into reality by Captain Picard, and killed by falling to his death while fighting Tolian Soran, a man who Kirk has never met and has no history with. Not to mention, Picard could have re-emerged from the Nexus at any point in time, even days before the battle with Soran, which made Kirk's death seem completely avoidable.
It shouldn't surprise anyone to learn that William Shatner was also displeased with his character's unceremonious death. Shatner explained to TrekMovie.com that the only reason he agreed to perform the scene was because the creative leads told him his only options were to do the scene that they wanted, or to accept Kirk's death happening off-screen.
It was definitely cool to see Kirk and Picard teaming up for the first time, but Kirk's death should have been more personal to his character, not simply a quick torch-pass to The Next Generation.
