8 Things Fans Actually Wanted From Game Of Thrones Season 8
3. The Night King Should Have Won.
From the first moments of the show, the threat of the Night King is established. Ghoulish blue-tinged undead, that will not stop until the lands of Westeros are barren and filled with death. They just had a really long walk to make, is all.
The build-up of the Night King and his armies was infuriating at times, as it meandered its way to the central plot. Yet in its later seasons, the threat began to feel viscerally real.
However, after one admittedly epic, but all to brief battle, the threat of the Night King was swiftly dealt with at the hands of Arya Stark. In the proceeding episode, the focus was back on the throne, leaving the Night King to be nothing more than a distant memory.
Through its eight seasons, The Night King and his army loomed over the perpetual “game of thrones” and was set to be the thing that brought that game to an end. Yet its eventual conclusion felt more like a dismissal, rather than dealing with a genuine obstacle.
Had the Night King won, and pushed the forces back to King’s Landing, our merry cast of character could have been forced to work together or die by the hands of the undead. It could have been interesting to see after all the scheming and hidden agendas, for the preservation of life to be the one and only concern, as old enemies rub shoulders in battle.
