8 Times Game Of Thrones Really Crossed The Line

6. A Pregnant Talisa Is Stabbed Repeatedly In The Stomach (Episode 3.9)

The term "The Red Wedding" has become synonymous with Game of Thrones and its ability to shock viewers into submission, forcing them to ask themselves: "What in the name of all the Gods in Westeros just happened?" So whilst you might be surprised to find a Red Wedding moment at the tail end of this list, consider that it wasn't necessarily the show going "too far" in the same way that other items on this list outline. Because this was something that was going to happen, no matter what. It's in the books, after all. And it was controversial, but it was also highly brilliant. In case (for some bizarre reason) you've forgotten one happened, this was the moment when Robb Stark, his wife, Talisa, and his mother, Catelyn, were ambushed and murdered in graphic detail during a wedding ceremony. The specific part of the scene that one could argue was taking it too far occurred when the very pregnant Talisa found herself stabbed, over and over again, in the belly. Of all the horrific moments that occurred in this episode, it's that one that stings the most - even for a show like Game of Thrones, such a graphic depiction of violence felt overwrought.
