8 TV Finales So Bad They Wiped Shows From Existence

7. St. Elsewhere (1982 To 1988)

Game Of Thrones Dany Face

Widely regarded as one of the greatest medical dramas of all time, St. Elsewhere featured a list of incredible talent such as Howie Mandel and Denzel Washington.

The fictional hospital of St. Eligius is nicknamed St. Elsewhere on the series as it's a broken down teaching hospital that receives the patients rejected from more prestigious hospitals. What's sad is that all conversations about this well respected show have to include its terrible finale. It essentially reveals that the whole series may have happened in the imagination of an autistic child, Tommy Westphall, a bold choice that landed with a thud.

This finale also accidentally created The Tommy Westphall Universe Hypothesis, which posits that a surprising amount of American TV might actually have happened inside the child's imagination due to all of St. Elsewhere's spin offs and crossovers. Characters from St. Elsewhere have appeared on other shows like The Wire, The X-Files, and Homicide: Life on the Street. Characters from those shows have then appeared on other series, spreading the problem further and further. Way to break TV, St. Elsewhere.
