2. Dinosaurs (1991 To 1994)

Dinosaurs was a sitcom starring anthropomorphic dinosaurs portrayed by puppets set in 60,000,003 BC Pangea. The series was conceived by the creative genius Jim Henson in the late 1980s, one of the last projects he put into motion before his untimely passing. The Walt Disney Company ultimately developed and produced the successful series.

It was noted for including a variety of weighty topics, including environmentalism, women's rights and more. This played heavily into the finale as the irresponsible actions of the corporation the patriarch of the family worked for directly led to the ice age that eventually killed off the dinosaurs. The final scenes feature the family comforting their baby as the world ends.

It's an incredibly depressing finale to what was supposed to be a comedy series.
