8 TV Show Reboots You Didn't Know Were In The Works

3. Starsky & Hutch

The Original: One of the most iconic duos in pop-culture history, David Starsky and Kenneth Hutchinson were Southern California detectives who each approached their work with a totally different attitude; they clashed, they argued, they disagreed, but no matter what, they got the job done.

The original buddy-cop series inspired a Ben Stiller movie as well as a separate video game. With over 90 episodes, it was (and still is) one of the most popular shows in the world, and it's surprising that a reboot has taken this long to move forward.

The Reboot: Though tampering with a beloved property can often give fans cause for concern, Starsky & Hutch's revival seems to be in incredible shape.

With Guardians Of The Galaxy director James Gunn on scripting duties, the idea is for him to reinvent the formula in the same way he delivered a fresh, exciting movie with his Marvel space opera blockbuster.

Amazon currently has Starsky & Hutch on a script-to-series order (meaning that if they like the script, they'll greenlight an entire season), and with Gunn almost ready to start pre-production on Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 3, it surely won't be long before we hear more news.

Danny has been with WhatCulture for over ten years, and is currently Doctor Who Editor and WhoCulture Channel Manager, overseeing all of WhatCulture's Whoniverse coverage. In 2022, he took charge of WhoCulture and has grown it into the biggest Doctor Who channel on YouTube, and one of the biggest Doctor Who communities on the web full-stop. He has been writing and video editing since his early teens, and first got a taste for content creation after making his own Doctor Who trailers, off the back of a burning obsession with the Matt Smith era of the show. Like many his age, he first got into Doctor Who with the 2005 revival, but has since gone back and fallen in love with the classic years too. If you need someone to recite every Doctor Who episode in order, or to give you a random factoid about the making of Gridlock, Danny is the person to ask!
