8 TV Shows That Should've Stopped At Season One

1. Killing Eve

Killing Eve
BBC America

For those not in the know, Killing Eve follows an MI5 officer, Eve, as she tracks a ruthless assassin operating across the globe, known only as Villanelle. The interest that each woman has for the other quickly turns to obsession and puts both of them in danger from a variety of enemies.

The first season managed to deftly balance dark humour with spy genre thrills that kept audiences on their toes and begging for more. Although, it might have been in the show’s best interests to end its story on that slightly ambiguous note.

After all, season two’s final episode copied the first season’s finale almost beat for beat with the fate of its two main characters reversed. Season three seemed to be content with treading water when it came to its characters' arcs and throwing shocking twists at the audience just for the sake of having shocking twists.

The writers clearly think that they can just coast by on Sandra Oh and Jodie Comer’s admittedly outstanding performances. But viewers stuck around for season one because of the substance lurking beneath the dry wit that these characters deliver.

Killing Eve unfortunately seems to be playing out its story on only a surface level now. And when you remember how intricate season one was, you can’t help but feel disappointed.
