8 Upcoming TV Adaptations You Should Be Excited For
2. Ripley - Showtime
What did you think of The Talented Mr. Ripley? Hopefully you've got fond memories of the psychological murder-drama - because there's going to be an eight-episode miniseries centred around the aspiring identity thief-turned-murderer.
Right out the gates, the reason why everyone should be more excited for this show is that the series of books written by Patricia Highsmith (aside from being great stories) are a haunting look into the mind of a desperate sociopath hell bent on staying one step ahead of his pursuers. Another reason is the incredible casting of Andrew Scott (Spectre and Sherlock fame) as the titular lead.
We've seen Scott flex his acting chops quite a bit since he hit the mainstream with his role as Moriarty in BBC's Sherlock - and there's hope he will bring some of that menacing and bombastic charm to the role of Tom Ripley.
With Johnny Flynn (from Lovesick and the upcoming David Bowie biopic Stardust) cast in the role as Dickie Greenleaf (Jude Law's role), the series is already shaping up to be a gathering of rising talent.
Be on the lookout for when this show airs. You'll be mad to miss it.
