8 Ways Brooklyn Nine-Nine Could End
4. A Time Jump
If you want to look at a sitcom finale trend that has proven to be pretty successful, then you should glance towards the time jump trope. Certain series' like The Office and Parks & Recreation have shown that this can lead to a gratifying and creative conclusion, and it's safe to say that this would be the same with the Nine-Nine.
Typically when a show finishes, it feels like a cliff-hanger. Even when you're given a climax, it very rarely comes across as definitive, as life doesn't always have a well-rounded ending. This is why time jumps can be beneficial, as it gives the audience a chance to look further into the happily ever after, and satisfyingly glimpse at where life has taken the characters.
This could work perfectly for the Nine-Nine, as we could jump ahead and see where their careers have been. Amy Santiago as a Captain, Jake getting his own task force, Terry's kids going to college, Rosa settling down; there are so many options for the future, and this would be an inspiring way to explore that.
