7. Littlefinger Uncannily Predicts The Season 4 Finale
In season fours The Mountain And The Viper, the devious Littlefinger is attempting to reassure the terrified lordling Robin Arryn that leaving the Eyrie isnt going to result in his certain doom, telling him:
People die at their dinner tables. They die in their beds. They die squatting over their chamber pots. Everybody dies sooner or later. And dont worry about your death. Worry about your life. Take charge of your life for as long as it lasts.
Words of wisdom, but not advice wed normally give to a spoiled little boy whos just lost his doting and deranged mother, especially not if we were the one that had killed her. Whats striking though, is how this throwaway little speech seems to predict the culmination of season four itself, with Tyrions murder, first of his ex-lover Shae in bed, and then his own father while the mans on the toilet. Given how Petyr Littlefinger Baelish seems to know everything thats going to happen in Kings Landing hours before the events actually take place, it might come as no surprise if hed genuinely predicted what was about to happen except how can he possibly have known what Tyrion would do, or who to, where, and when? No, this is a little dramatic irony written into the episode some foreshadowing, probably specifically for book-readers, who do delight in knowing whats about to happen in the show and then acting all surprised when people complain about spoilers.
