9 Marvel Superheroes Who Desperately Deserve Their Own Netflix Series

Who They Are: Wait, wait, I hear you. You€™re probably thinking, €œwho is that imposter? They€™'re not Hawkeye!€ And if you€™re unfamiliar with Matt Fraction€™s Hawk-Guy series, that€™s understandable. But any and all fans of the character really should familiarise themselves with the exploits of Kate Bishop, the second person to take up the Hawkeye mantle and the most likely of all Marvel€™s archers to get a devoted Netflix series.

Why They Deserve A Series: I say this despite Jeremy Renner€™s calls for a Netflix series focusing on Clint Barton, because even though I€™d adore such a thing happening, its chances are second-to-none. Barton is the Hawkeye of the MCU - there is most certainly no dispute there €“ but Kate deserves to own the moniker in Netflix€™s street-level brand of vigilantism. Better yet, I€™d be completely and utterly elated if a Hawkeye show just straight up adapted Fraction€™s series, depicting the stories of both Barton and Bishop as partners in crime, tangling with Russian mobsters and the sort complete with a Pizza Dog accompaniment.

This would all obviously deviate from the gritty nature of Netflix€™s adaptations thus far, but it would serve a good purpose in diversifying the tone of The Defenders and would kick off a potential second phase of Netflix€™s shows in a unique and captivating manner.

Again, this all probably sounds like gibberish to those of you who haven'€™t yet accessed the unending depths of the Marvel Comics€™ Universe in its current form, but trust me, if you want to see Hawkeye at its best on Netflix, Bishop is the way to go.

Content Producer/Presenter

WhatCulture's very own resident movie guy, Ewan has been working in the content creation biz for over 10 years now, having started as a freelance contributor to WhatCulture Gaming all the way back in 2015. After graduating with a First-Class Honours in History from Northumbria University in 2017 (where he won a prize for a totally killer dissertation on the Watergate years), Ewan took on the role of Comics Editor at WhatCulture and quickly developed WhatCulture Comics into one of the biggest superhero-focused channels on YouTube. He followed this with a brief hiatus at Screen Rant in 2021, where he worked across the Gaming and Film sections as a writer and editor, before returning to WhatCulture as a Senior Content Producer / Presenter in 2023. He started his own podcast, We Love Dad Movies, in 2022, and has contributed several written pieces to the Eisner-nominated comics website Shelfdust as well. In his current role, Ewan incorporates his love of cinema, comic books, and history into written pieces and video essays for WhatCulture's Film & TV channel, as well as WhatCulture Gaming and WhatCulture Horror, with a particular focus on nineties-era Dad Movies, old school Westerns, and Golden Age Hollywood Noir. John Carpenter is his fave, and he thinks Batman Beyond should never have been cancelled. If that's your vibe, you'll probably like his stuff.
