Central to Archers appeal is its reputation for maintaining a mighty streak of running gags, few of which have worn out their welcome even this far into the show. However, something of an end-of-season tradition was dropped in Vice, when proceedings were closed without any damage done to Rays legs, which of course, have quite a history. Ray has been relegated to a wheelchair on three separate occasions thus far - even if only two of them were medically warranted. In the Season 4 episode Legs, his lower limbs were replaced with bionic prosthetics, yet even these engineering marvels are not immune from disrepair: a nasty incident involving Archer and a defibrillator saw Ray face paraplegia again for the first few episodes of Vice. Mercifully for Ray, Krieger is able to reboot the CPU in his legs, and thereby restore his mobility. Theoretically then, Ray is safeguarded from any future paralysis. However, there are a few factors which suggest that his days in the wheelchair arent entirely over. For one, if that epic robot fight between Barry and Ray does finally materialise, it could well deliver irrevocable damage to Rays bio-skeleton. Additionally, if the surviving incarnation of Krieger has ulterior motives after all, it could be that the CPU in Rays legs is disabled once again, as part of some dastardly scheme. (That said, we wouldnt put it past the real Krieger to screw around with Rays bionic legs, if only for the kicks.) Whatever happens, don't rule anything out when it comes to Ray's lower appendages. (Phrasing, boom!)
