9 Upcoming TV Shows Based On Movies (That Will Probably Suck)

1. Taken

The Exorcist TV
NBC

Taken was a surprisingly good action film when it was released back in 2008. It showed Liam Neeson's acting chops, gave the world the done-to-death "I will find you..." line, and was an enjoyable watch. It did not, however, need the sequel that followed in 2012. It really didn't need the third film that came in 2015. And there's no fathomable cause for the TV series, which will debut on NBC later this year.

Unlike most of the entries on this list, it won't be simply inspired by the film, but have a real tangible connection as a prequel series about Bryan Mills' life before the film series, with Clive Standen (Vikings) taking on the role of the younger Mills.

It'll focus on Mills' time as a CIA operative before he met Lenny and they had Kim, so there is scope for this to succeed as a run of the mill crime-action procedural, though quite who the f**k will be getting taken is anyone's guess.
