Doctor Who: 20 Things You Didn’t Know About A Christmas Carol

1. Steven Moffat's Strange Fear Of Sharks

Movies and TV shows haven't done sharks any favours and it's no surprise many people are scared of them.

They've evolved over millions of years to be pure eating and killing machines. No excess, just teeth, fins, and a whole load of hungry energy.

A young Stevey Moff knew this full well, as he was deathly afraid of them as a boy. In particular, he had a nightmare that sharks would one day evolve to come out of the sea and chase him around on land.

And now, you will all have the same nightmare too. You're welcome.

Presumably thinking he might as well make a bit of money out of his childhood trauma, Moffat turned his fear into a plot device for A Christmas Carol. That's where the idea of flying sharks came from - Moffat's very real phobia that they were coming to get him.

Fingers crossed life never imitates art.
