Agents Of SHIELD: 10 Reasons Season 2 Is A Massive Improvement
2. Bad Ward
Season 1's biggest shock was Ward turning out to be HYDRA. Up until that point, actor Brett Dalton had been the standard heroic lead, likeable but rather dull. Since the revelation, Ward has become a fascinating character and Dalton is having a ball playing him. Week after week, the show teases the audience as to whether Grant is good or bad. Is his intention to reunite Skye with her father out of love or another, darker agenda? His scenes in the SHIELD vault, like a bearded Hannibal Lector, have been some of the most dramatically charged of the season so far and things have got even better now that Ward has escaped. The show's use of Ward constantly wrong foots us, none better than when he took his brother Sebastian back to the well. The pair seem to finally reconcile and then Ward, apparently, kills him and his parents, framing Sebastian for the act! Does he love Skye as Raina claims? If so, how will he react after Skye shot him? Now on the run with Agent 33, who looks like his old lover, Ward remains a brilliant wild card in the SHIELD storyline.
