Agents Of SHIELD: 15 MCU Characters Who Realistically Could Still Appear

4. Hawkeye

Unlike his fellow, franchise-leading Avengers, Hawkeye has pretty much drawn the short straw in terms of MCU presence. With only a cameo in Thor and a huge chunk of his time in The Avengers being spent under mind control, it was no surprise in 2012 when Jeremy Renner expressed his desire for something more to chew on. By many accounts, Hawkeye's role is being buffed up for Age of Ultron and for a while it seemed he would join the other Avengers in not meeting up with the Agents of SHIELD. Though he expressed being open to showing up on the series in October of last year, he left fans wondering if it was becoming a reality earlier this year when he teased returning as the character on his WhoSay account for something secretive and not merely reshoots for the big sequel. Throw in the fact that Clark Gregg posted artwork of Coulson and Hawkeye together on his Facebook just a few weeks before without comment and it's hard not to be excited that it could very well be happening. Renner himself has often taken television roles throughout his career, so the idea of him scoffing at getting to play more of a character he's gone on record as wanting to explore more of seems illogical. Fans haven't had the chance to find out what Hawkeye's been up to since 2012 or see how he's reacted to SHIELD falling apart; giving him the opportunity to be the first of the Avengers to be made aware of Coulson's status would be a great way to help shape the character whose world has to have been shaken enough as it is heading into Age of Ultron. Not to mention, comic fans are ready to see what his presence means for the dynamic between Mockingbird and Lance Hunter.
