Agents Of SHIELD: 15 MCU Characters Who Realistically Could Still Appear

11. Emil Blonsky

As already mentioned, the MCU hasn't entirely kept The Incredible Hulk from fading out of memory. Partway through Agents of SHIELD's first season, Blonsky was name-checked by Coulson as being imprisoned in an Alaskan cryo-cell. And with Marvel's One-Shot The Consultant, it was revealed that Tony Stark's meeting with General Ross - another character who could've easily made this list - at the end of the 2008 film was a successful attempt at dissuading Ross from letting Blonsky free to join the Avengers Initiative. Considering what SHIELD is now, Blonsky could very well have escaped, been set loose or recruited by HYDRA for their own purposes. Were he to show up on Agents of SHIELD, it could be forgiven were the character not to fully transform into the expensive CGI Abomination; receiving a deformed, deranged and/or delusional Emil Blonsky instead would be a fine trade-off. As 2014 closed out, actor Tim Roth suggested that there had been talk of bringing the character back, a plan that ultimately fell through for now but one that he clearly seemed game for. With Roth's career peppered with television work, in particular his three-season run on Lie to Me, it's hard not to wonder if he could be convinced for a fun arc on SHIELD to pick the character up either one last time or in advance of a potential film return down the line. Considering Blonsky is one of the MCU's few major living villains, making a comeback after all these years in some form would be a surprising and fun way to tie one of the franchise's first movies into the ongoing adventures of Coulson and the gang.
