3. Peggy Carter May Play A Crucial Role

As mentioned previously, Hayley Atwell will be guest starring in AoS' season premiere as Peggy Carter alongside Neal McDonough and Jim Morita as their respective Howling Commando characters in one or more flashback sequences. This is exciting for a number of reasons: one, that Peggy Carter is a wonderful character and any chance to see Atwell shine in the role is an opportunity never to be missed; two, her significant presence in the season premiere suggests there's a strong connection between the work she did for the SSR in the late 1940s and Coulson's rebuilding of SHIELD now (perhaps his new base is an old SSR HQ?); and three, this could be a genius way for Marvel to bridge the gap between what could turn out to be their two flagship programmes - Agents of SHIELD and Agent Carter. The latter will air its eight-episode season during the former's mid-season break, and having Carter appear onscreen before her major debut is not only a smart marketing move by Marvel but also one that will help viewers become invested in her as a lead before her story even begins properly.
