When asked about his loyalty to Hydra, John Garrett remarks that he €œwouldn€™t say I€™m a true believer,€ a catchphrase that€™s inextricably linked to Marvel legend Stan Lee in his correspondence to fans in letter pages, along with other esoteric phrases like €œExcelsior!€ that the writers haven€™t quite found a way to squeeze into the show€™s dialogue quite yet. Lee also made his first television cameo in €œT.R.A.C.K.S.€ as a passenger on the train Coulson and his team are aboard, and €“ probably by virtue of a television episode allowing a little more breathing space than a feature film €“ gets much more screentime and dialogue than he€™s usually allowed. One wonders whether or not Lee€™s been playing the same character in all of his MCU appearances, since it€™s supposed to have a shared continuity. If so, that would make AoS€™ Stan Lee the same one as the old coot at the end of The Avengers who doesn€™t believe in superheroes and the unfortunate milk-drinker from The Incredible Hulk who gets a lethal dose of gamma. Perhaps this is all ties in to the introduction of the Marvel Cinematic Zombies Universe...
