American Horror Story: 10 Best Minor Characters

6. Anna Leigh Leighton

Shelley American Horror Story Asylum
FX

Portrayed by Christine Ebersole in Coven, Anna Leigh Leighton was the latest Supreme descendant of the Salem Witch Trials before her death at the hands of her protege, Fiona Good.

Despite only having a handful of scenes across a couple of episodes, what makes Anna Leigh Leighton such an interesting and likeable character is her complete juxtaposition to her successor. She might have been the one who killed her, but Fiona made it clear over the course of Coven that she still had a huge amount of respect for the person who taught her everything she knew. In fact, Leighton is one of the few characters in the world of witchcraft that seems to have been liked and respected by all who met her.

When put next to Fiona, Leighton embodied the classical majesty of the coven. She was sweet, kind and understanding as well as boasting a powerful understanding of the seven wonders needed to be confirmed as a Supreme. She also had a rare understanding of what was good for her coven and managed to sign a truce with Marie Laveau, preventing the hostilities that would arise over the course of the Fiona's Supremacy in the season.
