American Horror Story: Apocalypse - 5 Ups & 1 Down From 'The Morning After'

Ups...

5. The Direction

American Horror Story has always had a wonderfully unique look, and the cinematography this season has already been top notch. But add in Jennifer Lynch - David Lynch's directing genius of daughter - then you have a winning combination.

The Morning After was beautifully directed by Lynch. She employed the use of 360-degree shots on several occasions throughout the episode, specifically when a character was starting to become vulnerable. The confrontation between Michael and Gallant (when the latter is tied up) is expertly directed, as is the meeting between Venable and Michael.

Lynch's powerful direction goes hand-in-hand with the heartbreaking dialogue of this scene, and her use of shots aids in revealing a vulnerability in Paulson's character that we haven't seen before. This isn't the first time Lynch has directed an AHS episode, and here's hoping it won't be the last.
