American Horror Story: Apocalypse Finale - 7 Ups & 2 Downs From ‘Apocalypse Then’
Downs...
2. It Doesn't Rectify All Of Coven's Mistakes
While Coven is widely regarded as one of American Horror Story's greatest seasons, a lot of fans remain in agreement that its finale left a lot to be desired. The issues people have with the episode tend to centre around Fiona Goode's inability to outrun death, which led to her character ending up in a knotty-pined-themed hell for all of eternity. That's not all, as other fan favourite characters such as Delphine LaLaurie and Marie Laveau suffered similar fates, despite the fact that all three women practically led the entire season.
When Apocalypse was first announced, many of us were hoping that Murphy and Falchuk would take it upon themselves to right these wrongs, and allow Fiona, Marie and Delphine another shot a life. We almost got our wish in regards to Marie in Apocalypse Then, but Mallory subsequently re-wrote history, which means that the voodoo queen is once again trapped in hell, therefore making her appearance in the episode a little redundant. If the end-of-the-world-themed season never rectified any of these issues, then it didn't really accomplish much, did it?
Let's face it: Fiona Goode is, for many, the greatest American Horror Story character of all-time, and the fact that we didn't get to see her at all in this sequel season is massively disappointing.
