American Horror Story: Ranking Sarah Paulson's Characters From Worst To Best

10. Bette Tattler

Sarah Paulson American Horror Story
FX

Playing one character on a show as dark as American Horror Story is no easy task, but playing two at the same time is likely much more difficult. However, Paulson made it look easy when she portrayed the dual roles of conjoined twins Bette and Dot Tattler in the fourth season of the series, entitled Freak Show.

While there was plenty to love about Dot, Bette was the sweeter of the two characters and had arguably more character development over the course of the season. Her charming personality and optimistic outlook on life is a rare find in a series of this nature, but she was rather selfish too, craving fame and fortune.

She often overlooked her sister's wants and desires for the sake of her own, but due to the horrifying experiences she endured as part of Elsa Mars' freak show, she started to realise all the things her sister had sacrificed to please her.

In the end, Bette sacrificed her own happiness so that Dot could be happy, which shows how her character evolved as a result of the narrative.
