American Horror Story: The Best Character Of Each Season So Far

As is the case with most American Horror Story seasons, Coven is one bursting with fantastic characters, from fame-obsessed Madison Montgomery to betrayed supreme witch Cordelia Goode, but none of them can quite compete with Fiona Goode, an aging Supreme unable to accept her advancing age or weakening powers.

AHS veteran Jessica Lange gives her best in-show performance as the self-serving witch, ensuring that she comes across as equally evil and emotionally conflicted. She's at once selfish in her desire to retain her youth, but endearing in her fear of death and estrangement from her daughter.

During the course of the season, it becomes increasingly clear that Fiona has been overcome by her need to hold onto her power - even if it means killing innocent witches - especially when she teams up with the legendary serial killer The Axeman and plots to murder her own child.

By the end, though, she finally renounces her evil ways before dying, making her twisting, unpredictable arc one of the show's very best.
