8. Oscar Father Moments
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DUFACvZl1cM Early on in the series, we discover that Oscar Bluth (George Snr.'s twin brother) is actually Buster's real father and that Lucille has been keeping it a secret from him. And though we as viewers find this out, Buster doesn't until late into the show, which lays down the premise for a hilarious running joke that constantly reminds us that this plot point actually exists. These gags, "Oscar Father Moments" if you will, usually begin when Buster makes a reference to his father, only for Oscar to make a purposely mysterious reference back, hinting that he's actually his real father. It's the dreamy, inquisitive, daytime soap-like musical cue that plays over these moments that seals the hilarity. "I thought my father was here," Buster says one time. "Did they?" Oscar elusively questions, music in background. Eventually Buster works out the truth, but nobody will admit it, so these moments keep happening, and everyone involved succumbs to rolling their eyes (including Buster) when Oscar continues to hint at the truth.
