Arrow: 10 Best Episodes So Far

1. Three Ghosts (Season 2, Episode 9)

If you’ve been paying attention to this list, it’s fairly apparent that Season 2 was the high point of the series. Specifically, the back half of Season 2, which chronicled Oliver’s ongoing fight with Slade in past and present, was almost inarguably the best stretch of episode the series has yet to put together. And it was the midseason finale, Three Ghosts, which marked the beginning of that run.

Told in the vein of A Christmas Carol, Oliver experiences visits from Shado, Slade, and Tommy. The latter of those apparitions offered one of the most moving moments in the show’s history as Tommy urged Oliver to get up and fight as the hero he knew him to be. It was an emotional high for the series, one made all the more memorable by the insane reveal that followed it. Slade’s speech on vengeance as he revealed himself in the present day as the architect of Oliver’s misfortune may have been the single best scene in the entire series.

This episode showed what Arrow can be at its peak, offering emotional impact, thrilling action and a shocking twist to cap it all off. Oh and we see The Flash get his powers. What more could you want?
