Arrow: 7 Things You Learn Rewatching Season 1
1. Oliver Never Intended To Be A Hero
Oliver Queen's Green Arrow may be about to sacrifice himself to save countless lives and, in the process, be named the greatest hero of the Arrowverse (and rightly so), but it's hard to believe that this is the same man who never intended on becoming a superhero.
Yep, shocking as it might seem, heroism was never on the agenda for Oliver, as he simply crafted The Hood identity to punish the guilty - not to save the innocent. Sure, there were occasions when the two things went hand-in-hand, but the Starling City vigilante's single goal was to right the wrongs of his father and cleanse the city of those who had failed it.
It wasn't until John Diggle asked for his assistance in tracking down bank robbers the Royal Flush Gang that he began to be a little more open-minded when it came to saving the day. And one good deed unrelated to his list soon led to another and, by the time that Felicity had joined the team, there was no looking back.
The Hood may have been known as the city's guardian angel in Season 1, but it wasn't until he began cleaning up the streets that he fully embraced that title. And just like that, the real Green Arrow was born.
