Arrow: Ranking Every Version Of The Black Canary From Worst To Best

Following the controversial death of Laurel Lance, Arrow attempted to introduce a new version of the Black Canary - one that just so happened to have her own metahuman Canary Cry. The decision was initially met with outrage because, yet again, the show was attempting to replace what it didn't need to.

However, though an unnecessary addition to the show, Dinah Drake quickly became an interesting one. The fact that she had no intention of becoming a costumed vigilante changed things up in a season that was all about finding a new Team Arrow, while her troubled backstory provided her with some solid foundations - foundations that set her apart from previous Canaries.

What held Dinah back was the show's status quo. The character often got lumped into the 'Team Arrow' bracket and, as a result, was constantly overlooked when it came to standalone storylines. She is always on-screen and is a reliable source of 'muscle' but she hasn't felt as important to the narrative in the way that both Laurel and Sara did - which is a shame because, when she's allowed to, Juliana Harkavy absolutely shines on-screen.

All that being said, Dinah overcame the initial criticism of her introduction and has become a solid part of the show - one that looks every bit the badass that she is.
