Arrow Season 3: 10 Comic Book Stories To Adapt

4. Outsiders - 'Wanted'

The Outsiders are a team of DCU heroes who don't fit the normal mould. Basically, these are the guys that wouldn't usually be considered Justice League material. Initially the group was formed under Batman's command, as he effectively wanted a black-ops type team to do the dirty missions that the Justice League couldn't. The version of the group that starred in the story 'Wanted' were formed by Arsenal (otherwise known as Roy Harper in the Arrow show). He recruits some young heroes like Jade and Metamorpho, and under co-leadership with Nightwing, the Outsiders decide to function as hunters, tracking down super-criminals before they commit their crimes. Pictures have surfaced online of Roy Harper in his Red Arrow costume (another name he took on in the comics, after Speedy and then Arsenal), so we already know he's joining Ollie in the world of costumed heroism. We think it would be interesting if Roy and Ollie continue to butt heads in the show about how to carry out their mission, as we have seen them do many times, leading to Roy leaving the Arrow group and forming his own team of Outsiders. Another interesting tidbit of the 'Wanted' story is that it is revealed at the end that the Outsiders have been taking their orders from Batman, something that some members of the team were unaware of. However, as the picture above would suggest, their orders have actually been coming from Deathstroke disguised as Batman! Oh Slade, that crafty devil. We think Slade posing as the person giving Roy his intel in the show, before revealing it as a plan to sabotage the Arrow clan, would make for a brilliant twist and be a great way to keep Manu Bennett in the fold as Slade.
