Arrow Season 4: 8 Things You Need To Know About Green Arrow
6. His True Love Is Laurel
Oliver and Felicity (Olicity) are the love story of the show, with a fair amount of fan-baiting back in season 2 - when Oliver tells her he loves her - and then some fan-pleasing when they finally got together last year. However, Miss Smoak is a character invented for the TV show, who wasn't initially supposed to hang around that long (although thankfully she has, because Emily Bett Rickards is great, even if she was given some very poor writing last year). Instead, Green Arrow's true love is Dinah Lance, whom Laurel from the TV show is based on. She was the one who finally convinced him to abandon his womanising ways, and the pair did get married at one point. The show did look at going down this route before, but that was when the writing for Laurel was bad and the character was generally just pretty awful all-round. Now she's a much more established and likeable character, but part of the reason for that is the removal of romantic ties to Oliver. The show is going to run for a few more seasons yet (the popularity means that original 5-season plan has surely been extended), so will Olicity last the distance? If something tragic were to happen to Felicity, or they can't find a way to make it work, then eventually this might be the show's endgame couple.
NCTJ-qualified journalist. Most definitely not a racing driver. Drink too much tea; eat too much peanut butter; watch too much TV. Sadly only the latter paying off so far.
A mix of wise-old man in a young man's body with a child-like wonder about him and a great otherworldly sensibility.
